Cellulose Sponge

Cellulose Sponge

Cellulose sponge is a special grade of foam made basically from wood pulp and mixed with viscose fibres to create a sponge that is Hydrophilic (attracts water) from a natural source. It has the cells created by crystals in the foaming mixture, and the crystals are dissolved out to produce the cells. The sponge is made in small blocks. Being a natural product, the sponge is biodegradable.

The sponge can be produced and supplied in many formats such as

  • Die cut to give a shape
  • Sewn
  • Printed on
  • Thermally compressed
  • Packaged

Basic Sponge

Basic Sponge

The basic sponge is naturally hydrophilic (it absorbs water readily), and is strong and resistant to chemicals and detergents.

  • Applications

  • Kitchen sponges
  • Medical wipes
  • Cosmetic applicators
  • Cleaning sponge for DIY applications
  • Wiper for Industrial applications to remove excess water

Cellulose Sponge Cloths

Cellulose Sponge Cloths

These cloths are made in rolls initially and foamed with an internal scrim inside to help with expansion and contraction issues in use, adding to the value and quality of the products. They can be supplied pre-cut to size in the wet or dry format.

Typical Uses:

  • Surface wipes to absorb spills
  • "paddle" pads for electronic stimulation/physiotherapy machines
  • Absorbent pads for use in labelling machines
  • Many more potential applications

Compressed Cellulose Sponge

Compressed Cellulose Sponge

The base sponge can be thermally compressed to create a dry and very thin sponge which can then be printed onto and packaged according to customer's requirements. They can also be cut to shape. When these foams are immersed into water they expand back to their original pre-compressed thickness. These sponges hold many times their own weight in water.

Typical Applications

  • Printing
  • Domestic applications
  • Promotional Gifts
  • Saliva collector in bagpipes
  • Medical
  • Valves/ stoppers (when expanded it fills voids)
  • Other potential applications
